La filosofía práctica y el método dialéctico aristotélicos: ¿Es la argumentación práctica una especie de dialéctica?

Abstract

Es sabido que Aristóteles suele comenzar la mayor parte de sus investigaciones con un relevamiento de posiciones y/o concepciones previas relativas al tema a tratar. En el presente trabajo trataremos de mostrar que tanto las referencias a autores anteriores como a las opiniones corrientes sobre el tema tratado responden a las exigencias de cierto proceder metódico que las necesita como elementos constitutivos. Nuestra tarea concreta consistirá en intentar develar el valor metódicoepistemológico de los pasajes dedicados tanto a la opinión de la mayoría” como a personajes que en el pasado habrían abordado cuestiones similares a las aristotélicas. Por último, como objetivo general trataremos de hallar la función de estas referencias en la estructura del método argumentativo expuesto en los Tópicos para, de este modo, mostrar la relación –si es que la hubiere– entre el llamado método dialéctico” o de los éndoxa” y la filosofía práctica aristotélica.

“Practical philosophy and the Aristotelian dialectical method. Is practical argumentation a kind of dialectics?”. It is known that Aristotle often starts most of his investigations by reviewing the conceptions of authors previous to him, related with his present subject. In this paper we will try to show that these references to previous authors, as well as references to current opinions about the subject discussed, are related to certain method that needs them as constituents elements. We will try to reveal the methodicepistemological value of the passages dedicated to the opinion of the “majority” as well as to characters that in the past would have dealt with similar matters as the Aristotelian. Finally, as a general aim, we will try to find the function of these references within the structure of the argumentative method as it is presented and explained in the Topics, so we can show the relation –if there is any– between the so called “dialecticmethod” or “éndoxa’s method” and the Aristotelian practical philosophy.
