Estudios de Filosofía es una revista de periodicidad anual, editada por el Seminario de Filosofía del Instituto Riva-Agüero, escuela de altos estudios humanísticos de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, y elaborada con el esfuerzo conjunto de profesores y estudiantes de Filosofía de esta universidad. Se publica por primera vez en 1975; a partir de 2009, la revista se publica de forma exclusivamente electrónica.

Su objetivo es difundir textos originales e inéditos, principalmente -aunque no de modo exclusivo- de quienes se inician en la investigación. Se incluyen artículos, traducciones, estudios críticos, reseñas, entrevistas, notas bibliográficas y noticias de actividades filosóficas diversas.

Todos los artículos presentados a la revista son sometidos a un proceso de arbitraje doble ciego realizado por pares nacionales.

    El don como principio crítico democratizador. Una reflexión sobre la crisis de la democracia

    The text deals with the crisis of democracy and examines the possibilities of the theory of reciprocity to deal with it. The theory of reciprocity has one foot in the philosophical work of Kant. We first present the relationship between crisis and criticism present in his work, and then move on to the rearticulation of criticism in the theory of reciprocity. With this, democratization is presented to deal with the crisis. Since networks of trust and the gift have a central place in such terrain, we will examine the capacities that such elements offer to face the crisis.

    La experiencia de la libertad: un salto de fe

    This paper seeks to interpret Fear and Trembling’s paradox of faith together with Kant’s examination of the problem of freedom, in order to reconcile Kierkegaard’s thought with rationalism, but at the same time, to enrich the latter with a more existential language. It argues that, at the ground of all ethics, a certain experience beyond the limits of reason is found, albeit not an irrational one.

    ¿Qué posibilidad de discusión y acuerdo hay para Kant respecto de diversos juicios de gusto?

    This paper examines the importance that judgements of taste have within Kant’s Critique of Judgement. It claims that looking for de facto agreements about judgements of taste is a mistake and that disagreements, instead, are desirable. Following Kant in the antinomy of taste, judgments of taste are not based on determined concepts, but rather on an undetermined one. Since the concept is not determined one cannot exhibit it in a sensible intuition or make direct reference to it. It is argued that universal agreement does not seek de facto agreement, but rather the discovery of a common sense in which one discovers that others can feel the same as one does with respect to a given representation. This undetermined concept becomes a “regulative ideal”, unobtainable in so far as one cannot determine it, but to which one must aim in order to perfect one’s taste. It is in the sphere of discussion and disagreement that one confronts one’s judgements of taste.

    Guerra para la paz: Hegel y la posibilidad de una paz perpetua

    El tópico de la guerra en la obra hegeliana no ha sido tratado ni profunda ni extensamente por los estudios académicos. Es más bien un sentido común que ve en Hegel a un conservador de la autonomía interestatal y la defensa del espíritu del pueblo el que se ha asentado en los estudios de su filosofía práctica. En este sentido, nuestro trabajo tiene la intención de brindar, al mismo tiempo que una respuesta a los presupuestos que se hacen en torno al concepto de guerra en Hegel, una lectura de este que no sólo lo inscriba dentro de la ética, política y lógica del autor, sino que, además, muestre un aspecto hasta ahora impensable sobre su relación con la idea de una  paz perpetua: ¿puede acaso la guerra, como parte del momento de la eticidad, tener como fin un estado de paz? Esperamos con estas líneas, por lo demás, establecer un lugar común desde el cual puedan aflorar nuevas rutas de lectura sobre este aspecto particular en la filosofía de Hegel.

    El aparecer de lo sublime: la recuperación de lo sublime en la naturaleza a través del arte

    The Kantian interpretation of the sublime proposes in its assessment a predominant place to the contemplation of nature. Contemporary interpretations, on the other hand, focus their attention upon the capacity of art as a de-structuralizing element, in order to give an account of a historical development of the arts in the way of the sublime. The present paper holds that, since Martin Seel’s Aesthetics of Appearing, it is possible to link both approaches by means of an existential interpretation of the experience of the sublime that stresses the role of time, and thus recovers the experience of the natural sublime in the absence of a super-sensible foundation.
