Abstract

Riddles represent a form of competition in the Andes, they constitute social and recreational events; They include varied content, and are often satires of everything external to the community. They reveal the peasant's knowledge of his world. Here the author offers us a sample of these riddles, in Quechua, collected in the regions of Apurímac, Ayacucho, and in Lima, by himself.Las adivinanzas representan en el Ande una forma de competencia, constituyen eventos sociales y recreativos; incluyen contenidos variados, y son a menudo sátiras de todo lo externo respecto a la comunidad. Revelan los conocimientos del campesino sobre su mundo. Aquí nos ofrece el autor una muestra de estas adivinanzas, en quechua, recogidas en las regiones de Apurímac, Ayacucho, y en Lima, por él mismo.
