Abstract
In evaluating the role that myth plays in ancient Greek thought, one must distinguish, or at least this is the claim, the type of reason against which it is contrasted. Actually, its function is modified when reason is considered monolithically or, as it often happens in Aristotle, when it operates in two ways: in a practical way or in a theoretical way. From this last point of view, myth returns to a basic place in the poetic work.
