Preparación y organización doméstica para las negociaciones del TLC Perú – EE.UU.

Abstract

This article deals with the preparation process for the negotiations of the Free Trade Agreement between Peru and the United States. It also deals with the internal coordination process developed in order to successfully negotiate with the United States, as well as to obtain support of the relevant domestic actors.It is argued that the activities related to preparation, organization, coordination and information were a fundamental element for the success of these negotiations with our most important trade partner of the time, being also the first free trade agreement negotiated outside Latin America.

Este trabajo presenta el proceso de preparación para las negociaciones del acuerdo de libre comercio del Perú con Estados Unidos, así como el proceso de coordinación interna para afrontarlas exitosamente y para lograr el apoyo de los actores domésticos relevantes.Se argumenta que las actividades de organización de preparación, organización, coordinación e información fueron un elemento fundamental para el éxito de estas negociaciones con nuestro principal socio comercial del momento y que fue el primer acuerdo de libre comercio negociado fuera de América Latina.
