The objective of this research was to analyze the processes of political socialization in a private school in Lima, from the teacher-student relationship of the 5th and 6th grades of elementary school (nine and ten years old), and thereby identify if the process of socialization contributes to developing democratic citizenship. For this, a qualitative study was carried out, with a thematic approach, where a semi-structured interview was used identifying three components of citizenship: rights, participation and power relationships. Six teachers from a private school in the city of Lima were interviewed, three teachers from 5th grade and three teachers from 6th grade of elementary school, who also had to have the greatest load of hours taught per week, compared to your other colleagues. Regarding the results, these are presented according to the two identified themes: participation in the school and the political in students, teachers and school. Finally, these results were discussed based on 5 findings found that suggest that political socialization of teachers to students does not promote autonomy and therefore takes away agency from students in their learning process and their process of developing citizenship.
