Abstract
This paper addresses the transformation of the present province of Parinacochas (Ayacucho) between prehispanic and viceroyalty times, in order to understand the previous and later context of the event of Taki Onqoy. Parinacochas, due to its mineral resources, livestock, agricultural and concentration of indigenous population, was economically preferred area, first by the Inca State, then by the Spanish administration: the trustees, church and authorities were able to benefit from the various tax payments, leaving aside, even the process of evangelization.
