Santuario y fiesta patronal en Salta: Espacialidades y temporalidades en la celebración del Milagro (Argentina)

Abstract

This investigation is based on an interdisciplinary approach strongly influenced by studies from the fields of anthropology and communication, with the aim of analyzing two core meanings that articulate spatiality and temporality in the devotion to the Lord and the Virgin of the Miracle in Salta. On the one hand, the notion of “Cathedral-Sanctuary” as a representation and geo-symbol of identity presents disputes/tensions of meaning (economic, symbolic) in its form of nomination between a provincial “inside” and “outside”. On the other hand, it is interesting to consider the phrase “Time of the Miracle” as a native category that interweaves places, festivals, institutional discourses, as well as ritual practices and the solidarity among believers of the cult. In both cases, these are spatial/territorial and temporal representations that manage to articulate diverse meanings, practices, and discourses of one of the most popular and ancient devotions in the country.

La indagación parte de un abordaje interdisciplinario con fuerte impronta de los estudios provenientes del campo de la antropología y la comunicación, con el objetivo de analizar dos núcleos de sentidos que articulan la espacialidad y la temporalidad en la fiesta patronal del Señor y la Virgen del Milagro en Salta. Por un lado, la noción de «catedral-santuario» como representación y geosímbolo identitario que presenta disputas/tensiones de sentidos (económicos, simbólicos) en su forma de nominación entre un «adentro» y un «afuera» provincial. Por otro lado, interesa pensar el sintagma «Tiempo del Milagro» como una categoría nativa que entrama lugares, fiestas, discursos institucionales, como así también, prácticas rituales y de solidaridad entre creyentes del culto. En ambos casos se trata de representaciones espaciales/territoriales y temporales que logran articular diversos sentidos, prácticas y discursos de una de las devociones más multitudinarias y antiguas del país.
