Abstract
ambos constructos respecto a algunas variables sociodemográficas y jurídicas.
The objective of this research was to study the relationship between well-being and its respective dimensions, and the coping strategies in the female inmates of a prison in Metropolitan Lima. The participants were 165 prisoners from Lima, whose ages were between 23 and 58 years old (M = 32.93, SD = 5.34). Well-being was assessed through a spanish adaptation of the reduced version of the Well-being test created by Ryff in 1989. Coping was evaluated through the Peruvian adaptation of the COPE test created by Carver, Scheier and Weintraub in 1989. It was also analyzed both constructs with respect to some sociodemographic and legal variables. The results showed that there was a positive association between well-being and the use of more active strategies, and a negative relationship between well-being and more passive strategies. Likewise, differences were found regarding the well-being between inmates with full schooling and those who did not complete their studies, between inmates who have a partner or not, between those who receive visits and those who do not. And differences were found regarding the use of certain strategies between inmates who committed certain crimes, between those who are processed or sentenced, and those who have their close family in Lima or in other regions.
