Abstract
This research explores the tensions and forms of collaboration that emerge from the practices and forms of relationship established by the inhabitants of Urco (Calca, Cusco) and agents linked to archaeology with different types of prehispanic materialities. To this end, it analyzes and compares the sets of practices -and the ontological assumptions implicit in them- that mediate the relationships of the inhabitants of Urco and the members of an archaeological team with sites, objects and prehispanic human remains of the place, in agricultural contexts, searches for "tapados" and archaeological intervention. From a fieldwork carried out with a qualitative methodology and using research techniques such as participant observation, interviews and informal conversations, the author explores the ontological multiplicity of pre-hispanic materialities. According to the different contexts and practices in which they are involved, prehispanic remains can emerge as passive objects subject to expert intervention or as ambiguous agentive beings capable of intervening in the development of events according to their will. Being a topic with many edges to be addressed, this thesis provides a case study on the ways in which a particular Andean population is linked to the prehispanic -with special attention to the associated non-human beings- in different contexts and how relationships, narratives and practices are reconfigured when an archaeological project is implemented at the site.
