Abstract
virtuales.
This research aims to discover and analize the reading format preferences of undergraduate studednts in the History program at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú during the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, four specific objectives were proposed, each one about a specific aspect related to the reading formats: preference, usage, technology and changes during the pandemic. It followed a qualitative methodological approach, using the semi-structured interview as a tool to collect data from nine History students regarding their preferences and usage of print and electronic formats before and during the pandemic. The subsequent analysis of these data consisted in interpreting the collected data, searching for patterns, comparing them with the theory and visualizing the findings through statistical tables and graphs. The findings revealed a contrast between assessment and use, as it was found that while preference for both formats were equal, the vast majority of participants predominantly use the electronic format. The main reasons for this behavior are the multiple benefits that this format offers, which supports the students in their academic work, and the ease of access to digital texts. Finally, it is observed that the pandemic has significantly influenced the preference and frequency of use of the electronic format, as it proved more appropriate and beneficial for students in the context of virtual classes.
