The purpose of this thesis entitled: "Macroeconomic variables that impact the payment behavior of Peruvian debtors" is to analyze and test whether the macroeconomic variables: Gross Domestic Product (GDP), inflation levels, unemployment rate and interest rate influence the payment behavior of Peruvian debtors. This behavior is measured through the delinquency rate and the provisioning rate of the banking system. The information analyzed corresponds to the Peruvian population during the years 2013 to 2022. These data were obtained from the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) and the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) for the aforementioned years. The results were: macroeconomic variables (GDP, inflation levels, interest rate and unemployment rate) influence the payment behavior of debtors, given that the causality indexes of the Granger test presented a probability of less than 5%. It can be identified that the most significant results (probability less than 1%) are obtained from the relationship of provisions with GDP, interest rate and unemployment, which allows considering them as explanatory variables.
