Abstract
Las restricciones del contexto socioeconómico de Lima durante la década de los años
noventa no solo generaron la persistencia de problemas sociales que venían de la década
pasada, sino que hicieron más gruesa la brecha social existente. La presente
investigación está enfocada en presentar las falencias del sistema neoliberal a partir del
caso del metal extremo en Lima, comunidad que a pesar de los límites socioeconómicos
tuvo reconocimiento tanto fuera como dentro del Perú. En relación con ello, se postula
que el éxito de la escena no solo estuvo motivado un simple gusto a un género en
particular, sino también por una conciencia de estatus económico que le distinguía de
otro: en este caso, el heavy como “pituco” y “vendido”.
The restrictions of the socioeconomic context of Lima during the nineties not only generated the persistence of social problems that came from the last decade, but also widened the existing social gap. This research is focused on presenting the shortcomings of the neoliberal system based on the case of extreme metal in Lima, a community that despite socioeconomic limits was recognized both outside and inside Peru. In relation to this, it is postulated that the success of the scene was not only motivated by a simple taste for a particular genre, but also by an awareness of economic status that distinguished it from another: in this case, heavy metalheads as "pituco" and "sold."
