The main purpose of this research was to analyze the relationships between school climate and risk behaviors in 10th and 12th grade students from high schools in Metropolitan Lima. The sample consisted of 155 students in 10th and 12th grade from a public school and a private school (M=15.39 years, SD=1.16 years). Two instruments were used in order to assess the purpose of this study: a school climate scale and a risk behavior survey. The results revealed that there was an inverse relationship between the positive dimensions of school climate (Normative Adjustment and Positive Interpersonal Management) and risk behaviors, as well as a direct relationship between the negative dimensions of school climate (Indiscipline, Teacher Apathy and Aggression) and risk behaviors. Finally, the implications of these findings were discussed suggesting the contribution of school climate to the adolescent development and its relevance for education.
