presentaban mayores puntajes.
This research aims to study the relationship between the coping strategies and the social support in women inmates in Lima. The participants were 165 inmates between 23 and 58 years old, that has at least Incomplete Secondary School. To achieve this, the COPE 60 (Carver et al., 1989) was used and also for Social Support and the satisfaction of Social Support the CTSS and CSSS was used (Suurmeijer et al., 1995; Suurmeijer et al., 1996). The statistics showed a direct relationship between Social Support and their satisfaction with the coping strategies, being the highest between use of emotional support and the total Social Support. Regarding the sociodemographic variables, age correlated positively with religious coping and negatively with the use of humor. The time of imprisonment had a positive relationship with the strategies of planning, positive reinterpretation and use of emotional support, and a negative relationship was obtained with those of denial and behavioral disengagement. Furthermore, significant differences were found in Social Support tests with the level of instruction, where those with higher education had higher scores in all the scales.
