Resumen
El culto a los incas muertos tuvo como finalidad la legitimación del poder político, económico, social y religioso, de sus sucesores y las élites del Tahuantinsuyo. Las crónicas reflejan una importancia en las actitudes frente a la muerte a partir de manifestaciones culturales propias pertenecientes a un complejo ritual con influencia andina2. La ejecución Atahualpa ilustra la importancia del cuidado del cuerpo mediante su directa relación con los lazos de parentesco y la memoria colectiva, debido a la influencia de las panacas sobre los Andes. El cuerpo convertido al cristianismo se vio inmerso en un proceso de martirización en beneficio de la Iglesia. Los conquistadores y clérigos de la época fueron los que desarrollaron una persecución intelectual y en los que practicaban el ritual mortuorio, como integrantes de la nobleza cusqueña. Emplearon como medio la búsqueda y reubicación de los restos corpóreos a fines de la década de los 50 del siglo XVI.
The purpose of the cult of the dead Incas was to legitimize the political, economic, social and religious power of their successors and the elites of Tahuantinsuyo. The chronicles reflect an importance in the attitudes towards the death from own cultural manifestations pertaining to a ritual complex with Andean influence. The Atahualpa execution illustrates the importance of caring for the body through its direct relationship with kinship ties and collective memory, thanks to the influence of the panacas on the Andes. His conversion to Christianity, was immersed in a process of martyrdom for the benefit of the Catholic Church. They were the conquerors and clergymen of the time, who developed an intellectual persecution and in the action to the mortuary ritual of the nobility Cusco by means of the search and relocation of the corporeal remains at the end of the decade of the 50s of the sixteenth century.
