El Perú hasta 1960 : políticas liberales en una economía abierta

Abstract

Antes de entrar al gran tema del fracaso de las políticas proteccionistas y de sustitución de importaciones del período post-1960, debemos contestar primero la pregunta de porqué existieron tales políticas. De esta manera, nuestra tarea en este trabajo consistirá básicamente de tres partes: primero, sustentar el carácter liberal de las políticas comerciales hasta 1960; segundo, explicar la relativa longevidad del liberalismo en el Perú en relación a otros países latinoamericanos; y, por último, precisar los factores que determinaron la declinación del liberalismo hacia la década del 60.Before examining the failure of protectionist and import substitution policies in the post-1960 period, we should first wonder why those policies ever were enforced. This research is basically comprised of first an argument describing the neo-liberal nature of commercial policies until 1960 to then explain the relative long life of liberalism in Peru, vis-à-vis other Latin American countries to finally point at the factor that led to the decline of liberalism towards the 1960s.
