Resumen
La presente investigación cuantitativa correlacional examinó la relación entre la inteligencia
emocional y liderazgo en los gerentes de Colombia, Ecuador y Perú, dada la relevancia de
ambas variables en el entorno organizacional y las dos posiciones que el estado del arte ha
documentado sobre la existencia o no de esta relación. Para ello se analizó la relación entre la
inteligencia emocional, evaluada con el MSCEIT, y el liderazgo, evaluado con el MLQ,
usando el modelamiento de ecuaciones estructurales con mínimos cuadrados parciales (PLSSEM).
En el estudio se encontró una correlación estadísticamente significativa entre
inteligencia emocional y los estilos de liderazgo transformacional y laissez-faire.
This correlational quantitative research examined the relationship between emotional intelligence and leadership in executives from Ecuador, Colombia, and Peru, due to the relevance of both variables in organizations and the two positions found in literature review, which documented about the existence or not of this relationship. For this, it was analyzed the relationship between emotional intelligence, measured by MSCEIT, and leadership, measured by MLQ, using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). This study found statistically significant correlation between emotional intelligence and transformational and laissez-faire leadership styles.
