ansiedad, estrés o depresión moderados a graves.
The reduced assistance to psychological interventionsor counselingservicesis a latent problem in populations with vulnerable mental health, as is the case of members of a university community. In recent years, the delivery of psychological interventions through technological alternatives has been chosen, improving the interaction and experience of the participants. An experimental study was carried out to determine the effectiveness of a robot, a telepsychological tool, to recruit members of a Peruvian university community to a psychological intervention. All 77 participants (M = 23.75; SD = 5.36; 62.96% men) met the requirement to report moderate to severe levels of anxiety, stress, or depression. Each participant was assigned to a random recruitment method (video of a human or an animated robot), which invitedthem to a psychological intervention offeredby the University.A logistic regression model composed of variables that, according to the literature, predict enrollment in a psychological intervention was evaluated: sex, attitudes toward seeking psychological help, and means of recruitment. It was obtained that only the recruitment method turned out to be a significant predictor, and in turn, that the robot recruiter increases enrollment 7.71 times compared to its human counterpart. The findings suggest that robots could be highly efficient in recruiting participants to psychological interventions, in addition to being additional evidence of their versatility in a variety of contexts.
