La mujer armada

Abstract

In this article I reflect on the form and function of everyday female objects in my work Mujeres Armadas (2009-2019). Starting from the creation of a singular garment, I extend this proposal to photography and sculpture using the idea of the object from its heterogeneous condition. In this way, I propose a plastic language in which the woman’s body is the support to the extent that it exposes content linked to gender identity and the various themes that arise from it and questions the contemporary image. Likewise, I collect some definitions about the everyday object, ranging from its reason for “being” to its relationship with the work of art, and I review different disciplines and historical moments to, as a Swiss army knife, display some components that explain the importance it has among us.

En este artículo reflexiono sobre la forma y función que tienen los objetos de uso cotidiano femenino en mi obra Mujeres Armadas (2009-2019). A partir de la creación de una singular indumentaria, extiendo esta propuesta hacia la fotografía y la escultura utilizando la idea de objeto desde su heterogénea condición: como materia, como significante y como mediador. De esta forma, propongo un lenguaje plástico en el que el cuerpo de la mujer es el soporte en la medida que expone contenidos ligados a la identidad de género y a las diversas temáticas que de ahí se desprenden y cuestiona la imagen contemporánea. Asimismo, recojo algunas definiciones sobre el objeto cotidiano, que van desde de su razón de «ser» hasta su parentesco con la obra de arte, y reviso diferentes disciplinas y momentos históricos para, como una navaja suiza, desplegar algunos componentes que explican la importancia que tiene entre nosotros.
