The next Strategic Plan was developed for the next seven years with the aim of improving nutrition and basic medical assistance for children under 5 years of age and for pregnant mothers in Perú, where, through the implementation of the proposed strategies, will combat the maternal mortality, malnutrition, anemia and acute diarrheal diseases in children. Those national issues are addressed as part of the Social Progress Index, which measures the progress of a country through the well-being and quality of life of its population, and using three social dimensions, where the Human Basic Needs, which covers the component subject of the next Strategic Plan. The importance of this plan lies in reducing the impact of malnutrition in the country, since malnutrition along with anemia, impacts permanently the cognitive and motor skills of children, harming their learning at school and, therefore, having negative consequences for productivity in the children’s adult stage, harming country competitiveness and directly affecting the economy. Furthermore acute diarrheal diseases and maternal mortality affect malnutrition, which is why they should be treated with the same importance. The methodology used was the Strategic Process developed by D'Alessio (2015), which is a sequential, iterative and collegiate method. The Strategic Plan covers the time period of eight years (2018 to 2025) and comprise the whole territory of Peru. By using this method eight strategies were formulated, where along with the suggested actions, it will positioned Peru within the three first countries in Latin America and the Caribbean in terms of nutrition and basic medical assistance for children and pregnant mothers
