This thesis analyzes the state of management with a focus on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), in 2015, in the hydro-biological sector of Peru´s Piura Region. The study is a first attempt to address this subject in this sector in this Region. The study employed a quantitative approach to carry out a non-experimental, transectional, descriptive analysis. Primary data collection was based on a survey questionnaire covering four areas of CSR developed by Ethos-Perú 2021. It was administered to four large companies operating in the hydro-biological sector in Piura Region. Thesis research also included a brief review of the literature on the subject of CSR’s management, tools, and indicators. Said review focused as well on CSR concepts and their application to specific cases in in the hydro-biological sector in Europe, Chile, and New Zealand. Hence, it was determined that the issues and questions from Ethos-Perú 2021 questionnaire would be appropriate for the current study. The study analyzed the companies' responses to both the overall classificatory in-depth questions related to each of the sub-topics under each of the areas of CSR studied and the much more specific binary questions related to those same topics. Subsequently, the two sets of responses were examined for possible inconsistencies. The final results indicated that the overall CSR management approach of the four companies was still in the most basic stage in three areas and in the intermediate stage in one other. In none of the areas of CSR under consideration had the firms studied shown responses indicating that they had reached the more advanced or proactive stages. The study’s findings and conclusions might best be considered as something of a benchmark for management practices in the areas of CSR with the hope that future studies might build on these results and thereby deepen our understanding of specific management issues and practices as regards CSR in the hydrobiological sector going forward
