Me seduce mucho, poquito o nada: ilusión e ingenuidad en el pop art de Jules Holland

Abstract

This is a journey into the Pop Art of contemporary Dutch visual artist Jules Holland. After observing three of his recent oil paintings, we conclude that the Pop Art/naiveté pairing constitutes the aesthetic foundation of illusion in the European artist’s art. Trompe-l’oeil and the mirror, as resources of this illusion, in addition to the “Kahlo universe” itself, cause Pop Art, post-postmodernism, and reality itself to suffer such an onslaught that contemplating Jules Holland’s works seems like a pure form of play.Se hace un viaje al pop art del artista visual neerlandés contemporáneo Jules Holland. Tras la observación de tres de sus óleos recientes, se llega a la conclusión de que el binomio pop art/ingenuidad constituiría el fundamento estético de la ilusión en el arte del europeo. El trompe-l’oeil y el espejo, como recursos de esta ilusión, además del propio “universo Kahlo”, hacen que el pop art, el post-posmodernismo y la misma realidad sufran una embestida tal, que la contemplación de las obras de Jules Holland nos parece una pura forma del juego.
