Abstract
The thesis seeks to contribute to our understanding of the psychoanalytic process from the experience of a group of analysts. In that sense, the interviewed analysts told us what the psychoanalytic process is in their clinical practice. Doing so, they reveal that the process has three dimensions: the figurative, the theoretical and the factual. Each of these contains diverse information regarding what the process is. The analytic specialized literature approach to the concept is enriched by this other approach that comes from within, that is to say, from the analyst’s clinical experience, which sums to its elasticity and our understanding. The thesis shows, in that context, the relevance of empirical research to our conceptual understanding in psychoanalysis.
