The academic stress in university students has been investigated from health psychology. In this line, it has been identified that, in the context of the pandemic, there were various factors that contribute as stressors in the university population. Strategies have also been studied to deal with those stressors who play a relevant role. In Peru, no research has been found on emotional regulation and sleep quality related to academic stress. Therefore, the objective of this research is to analyze the role of emotional regulation and sleep quality on academic stress in university students in Lima during the pandemic. The participants were 184 students (men and women). To collect information about the variables, a quantitative methodology was obtained using the analysis technique to obtain quantitative data on the responses. The results concluded that the variables of emotional regulation and sleep quality were identified to explain those of academic stress. In this sense, a first model shows that the expressive suppression variables and surfing the internet explain the variance of the stressors. Also, a second model shows that biological sex, expressive suppression and sleep quality explain the variance of academic stress symptoms. This would be reflecting that the health of students during the context of the pandemic has been psychologically affected.
