El servicio público es uno de los conceptos más controvertidos del derecho administrativo. El presente artículo asume su plena actualidad y vigencia frente a aquellas posiciones que sostenían su ocaso a fines del siglo XX. Se desarrolla el concepto de servicio público en la doctrina y sus recientes mutaciones en el marco del derecho de la competencia —a nivel doctrinario y de la legislación comparada— así como su influencia en nuestro ordenamiento jurídico y en la jurisprudencia del Tribunal Constitucional del Perú.
