I made this research to help children of Milagro City, Ecuador. Here, there is a high proportion of school students without their parents at home. It was possible todefine, by mathematical methods, the typical student’s characteristics, his typical family, and a typical situation at classroom according to the reasons of the absence (in a state school or in a private school) and some aspects about his recuperation; however you should not forget that this information is only a reference because each student is a different case to be entirely analyzed. This research could be repeated in other cities.

In Spain, the first formal experiences in the field of University Teacher Training (abbreviated to FPU in Spanish) appear in the seventies, responding to isolated initiatives. In the eighties the first groups of FPU specialists are configured in scattered universities with the support of the government. Later, specialized departments arise that rely on the also emerging distance learning services and educational technology. Today, in a time when there are major changes in the university structure and the teaching models, it seems clear that the teaching and research staff will have to adapt to a very different environment. Thus, FPU becomes a powerful tool that can help improve the quality of university teaching and promote the professionalization of the teaching role. This article aims to make an approach to the experiences and research in the field of the FPU that were held in Spain from its origins. It also describes some of the emerging trends in the university system that will form the basis of a new University. This analysis will provide information to the debate on the professionalization of the teaching role that is currently taking place.

This paper analyzes, from the views expressed by teachers in activity, the motivations that led and lead them to uphold the performance of the teaching task. This problem is systematically surveyed in the framework of the project Observatory of the conceptions of teachers and future teachers about the school, teacher training and students (Irice/Conicet, OIE/Unesco). The comprehension of the senses and meanings that guide the choice of teaching implied, by the subjects questioned, a reflection on the constitutive aspects of the teaching role and a travel through the spaces of confluence of processes and representations. This study allowed us to recognize the prevailing needs in such choice of career, as well as the understanding of its significance and the values that guide it.

Debate on single-sex vs. coeducational schooling has increased over the last years. The purpose of the following study is to produce empirical evidence on this debate by comparing the frequency of disruptive behaviors in students thatattend single-sex and coeducational schools, in order to find statistical correlation. The frequency of disruptive behaviors in students coming from 5 single-sex schools was compared to that coming from 5 coeducational ones. Data came from 844 students aged 14, attending public schools in Callao, Peru. Students from single-sex schools showed less frequent disruptive behavior in each of the three measured categories—disruptive behaviors, behaviors that show lack of responsibility and anti-social behavior. A weak correlation was found between each of the three categories and the main variable. The study controlled for extraneous variables.
