The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between sleep quality and student development in a sample of 103 university students from the second semester onwards, in a private university in Lima. Beck Depression Index 2 (BDI-II) was used to exclude participants with scores corresponding to severe depression. Sleep quality was measured with the Pittsburgh Quality Sleep Index (PSQI); student development with QVA-r (Academic Experiences Questionnaire reduced version). Results showed that sleep quality is significantly correlated to student development in four dimensions: personal, interpersonal, study and institutional. In addition, 51.5% of students were poor sleepers. Also, mean comparison showed that students that migrated to Lima to start their studies were less adjusted in personal dimension than the ones that did not migrate. Moreover, sciences students were less adjusted in study dimension than their counterpart. There were also correlations between study and self-reported academic performance and previous semester average grade. Results shown that sleep quality is undermined in university students and is also correlated with most of student development dimensions.
