Based on previous research conducted in a rural community of the Jequetepeque valley (Arellano, 2012; Ferrándiz, 2011; La Barrera et. al., 2012), the present study focused on the analysis of the relationship between sense of community and psychological and social well-being. On the other hand, this study describes and analyzes the contents on the collective memory and its links with the identity processes. A mix design was used; the quantitative phase (N=82) revealed multiple correlations amongst variables of Sense of Community, Psychological and Social Well-being and their dimensions. Meanwhile, the qualitative phase – where six individual and two participatory interviews were conducted -, revealed three main issues: (i) the ties amongst people in the community and the difficulties on their acquaintance, (ii) the relationship between the community and the authorities throughout their history and its effects on their present, and (iii) the distrust among community members and low involvement in community activities linked to representations of certain events in their history and the inhabitants’ perspective about the future of the community.
