Individualismo y colectivismo y su relación con la identidad social en una muestra de docentes de colegios públicos de Lima Metropolitana

Resumen
l siguiente estudio examina cómo se relacionan las dimensiones horizontal y vertical del individualismo y colectivismo con las categorías de la identidad social en una muestra de 147 docentes de colegios públicos de Lima Metropolitana. Los resultados indican que los profesores poseen puntajes mayores en las dos dimensiones horizontales, sobre todo en la de individualismo. En cuanto a su nivel de identidad social se observa que es positivo y se destaca el grado de significado valorativo y emocional en la pertenencia a su grupo. Asimismo, se encontraron diversas asociaciones significativas entre las dimensiones y categorías de los constructos de estudio mencionados; siendo la más alta y significativa de ellas entre la dimensión horizontal de colectivismo y la autoestima colectiva.

The following study examines how the horizontal and vertical dimensions of individualism and collectivism are related to the construct social identity in a sample of 147 teachers from public schools in Metropolitan Lima. Results indicate that teachers got higher scores in the two horizontal dimensions, especially in the one of individualism. With respect to their level of social identity, it is seen to be positive, being highlighted the high degree of evaluative and emotional meaning towards their sense of belonging to their group. Significant associations between dimensions and categories of the mentioned constructs were found, being the most relevant one the association between the horizontal dimension of collectivism and collective self-esteem.
