The choices that are made for the subcontracting of items in some building works do not have a criterion behind, which can indicate the specific reasons for their subcontracting. The purpose of this research is to propose a set of criteria that can serve as a guide for the choice of a subcontractor and apply these in the most subcontracted items in conventional building projects. In order to obtain the aforementioned criteria, an analysis of the four most subcontracted items will be carried out, these will be obtained according to information that is collected from the field, where interviews will be conducted with resident engineers who have experience in works where subcontracts have been made. The first step that will be carried out is an analysis of field information, which allows us to know which are the most subcontracted items. The second step is to analyze the tool that will be used for decision-making based on the criteria collected in the interviews that will be carried out with the resident engineers. Finally, the decisional criteria for each of the four selected items are assigned as the most outsourced based on the information collected from the field.
