Resumen
En el desarrollo de la presente investigación aplicada, se realizó el diagnóstico operativo
de la Empresa del Acero S.A., la cual se dedica a la producción y comercialización de
productos de Acero para atender al sector construcción, industrial y minero. Para ello, se
recolectó información relevante respecto a las características organizacionales y operativas de
la empresa, y se efectuó una revisión de la literatura, con el fin de poder comparar las mejores
prácticas operativas con la forma en que estas se realizan y gestionan en la empresa.
En tal sentido, se evaluó la ubicación y la distribución de la planta, el diseño de los
productos, el planeamiento de sus recursos y procesos y la programación de sus operaciones.
Asimismo, se analizó la forma de gestión logística, de calidad, de mantenimiento, de costos y
de la cadena de suministro. A partir de esa información y los análisis realizados se plantean
propuestas de mejora en productividad, eficiencia, y reducción de costos, enfocados siempre
en generar beneficios adicionales que satisfagan las expectativas del mercado objetivo.
Todo esto se resume en las propuestas de cambio de formulación química de las
aleaciones utilizadas y en la estandarización de productos semi-terminados. Asimismo, se
propone reubicar algunas áreas, con la finalidad de evitar traslados innecesarios, y mejorar el
planeamiento de materiales y recursos, optimizando el uso del SAP. Por último, se plantea
mejorar la gestión de la distribución e inventarios de productos terminados.
La implementación de estas propuestas de mejora permitiría a la empresa un ahorro
potencial anual en el rango de los USD 2’641,197 y un mejor aprovechamiento de sus
recursos
In the development of the present applied research, the operational diagnosis of the Empresa del Acero S.A., which is dedicated to the production and commercialization of steel products to serve the construction, industrial and mining sectors, was made. For this purpose, relevant information regarding the organizational and operational characteristics of the company was collected, and a review of the literature was made, in order to compare the best operating practices with the way these are performed and managed in the company. In that sense, the location and distribution of the plant, the design of the products, the planning of its resources and processes and the scheduling of its operations were evaluated. Likewise, the way of management of logistics, quality, maintenance, costs and supply chain were analyzed. Based on this information and the researches carried out, proposals for improvement in productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction are presented, always focused on generating additional benefits that meet the expectations of the target market. All this is summarized in the proposals of change the chemical formulation of the alloys used and in the standardization of semi-finished products. Likewise, it is proposed to relocate some areas, in order to avoid unnecessary movements, and improve the planning of materials and resources, optimizing the use of SAP. Finally, it is proposed to improve the management of the distribution and inventories of finished products. The implementation of these improvement proposals would allow the company a potential annual savings in the range of USD 2'641,197 and a better use of its resources
