externalizante y global.
This study presents the analysis of the relationship between exposure to violence, volition and mental health in 60 institutionalized adolescents (33 males and 27 females) between 11 and 18 years old (M= 13, SD= 1.89). The participants were evaluated using an adaptation to a Peruvian sample (Argumedo & Romero, 2011) of the short version of the Volitional Components Inventory (SSI-k3) (Kazen, 2004), the Youth Self-Report (YSR) and the Children's Experiences of Violence Questionnaire (CEVQ). The results obtained indicate that, at a descriptive level, volition would play a mediating role among the effects of violence on the mental health of these adolescents. In particular, the violence on the volitional component "volitional inhibition" would intensify the problems both in their global mental health and in the internalizing and externalizing pathologies, being of greater impact in the latter. Similarly, the effect of violence on the volitional component "self-inhibition" would exacerbate internalizing problems. Finally, significant differences were found in terms of general violence and peer violence within the male and female participants, however, no significant differences were found in the levels of internalizing, externalizing and global pathologies.
