The objective of this paper is to analyze the main characteristics of the research carried out in the Master of Mathematics Teaching (MEM) of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) related to the teaching and learning of conic sections in the period 2014 - 2020, through a bibliographic review of the state-of-the-art type. To carry out our objective, we seek to answer the research question: ¿What are the characteristics of the research carried out in relation to conic sections, in the MEM of the PUCP in the period 2014 - 2020? To answer this question, a collection of all the theses that were produced during that period was carried out, confirming our documentary analysis unit, which is a form of technical research, that is, a group of intellectuals. These techniques and instruments consisted of organizing and describing the theses and thus being able to prepare files. For this, we not only had to review the summaries of the research carried out, but also the totality of the theses to prepare our critical reviews. When reviewing the eight theses found on conic sections of the MEM, we were able to conclude that the majority used the Didactic Engineering methodology followed by the qualitative type. In addition, the aforementioned theses were carried out in the teacher-student environment where the researcher was the teacher. We can also mention that there is agreement between the theoretical framework and the methodology used in the theses analyzed; regarding the use of technology, only the GeoGebra software was used, and good results were obtained in the teaching and learning of the students. As a result of this research, it was found that the most used conic section was the ellipse and the one that has not been considered as an object of study even in master's theses is the hyperbola conic section
