The present study aims to evaluate the secure base attachment behaviors that were present in nanny-child dyads. All of the children in the present sample were preschoolers and 12 of them, aged between 36 and 64 months (M = 47.25, DE = 9.03), were evaluated, along with their nannys, aged between 18 and 62 years old (M= 29.83 , DE = 13.62) and their mothers, aged between 27 and 45 years old (M = 37.92, DE = 6.23).To evaluate the quality of attachment, the Attachment Q-Set 3.0 (Waters, 1995) was used. It was found that, apparently, there’s no significant difference between quality of attachment in nanny-child dyads and that of mother-child dyads. In addition, both of these dyads were not found to significantly correlate between each other. In regards to the specific objectives, it was found that the “Interactions with other adults” scale was significantly higher in nanny-child dyads when comparing it to mother-child dyads. Moreover, no significant correlations were found between the time the nanny or mother spends with the child and their respective AQS global score and scales. This result was the same for the variable regarding the quantity of children the nanny has in charge. Finally, a significant difference, in favor of girls, was found between the gender of the child and the “Smooth interactions with nanny scale”.
