Obstáculos para el incremento y fortalecimiento de la vinculación de una universidad peruana con el sector empresarial. Estudio de caso: universidad en el Perú destacada en temas de investigación

Resumen
En la actualidad, la universidad juega un rol crucial en el crecimiento económico de
las sociedades más desarrolladas; constituyendo la fuente principal para la
generación de conocimiento, innovación y nuevas tecnologías. A fin de cumplir con
este rol, la universidad debe establecer vínculos con la empresa, la cual se encarga
de comercializar los hallazgos de la investigación académica. Si bien los beneficios
de la colaboración entre la academia y la empresa son enormes, existen trabas o
tensiones que pueden provocar que los miembros de ambas instituciones no sean
conscientes de estos beneficios.
En ese sentido, la presente investigación tuvo como objetivo principal identificar las
barreras o trabas que limitan la colaboración universidad–industria en nuestro país,
tomando como estudio de caso a la universidad peruana con la mayor producción
científica a nivel nacional. A fin de lograr este objetivo, se realizaron entrevistas
semiestructuradas a 21 investigadores académicos de esta universidad.
Posteriormente, las entrevistas fueron transcritas y analizadas empleando el
software ATLAS.ti vs 7.1.3.
Las barreras percibidas por los investigadores incluyeron factores relacionados con
diferencias en cuanto a la orientación y cultura de ambas instituciones, aspectos
burocráticos, escasa comunicación entre los actores, falta de un rol más activo de la
oficina universitaria de vinculación o transferencia tecnológica, desconfianza por
parte del investigador, desconocimiento de socios potenciales, entre otros.
En adición a las barreras o trabas que limitan el vínculo de esta universidad con la
empresa, se identificaron estrategias para la resolución de las mismas, factores de
éxito de la colaboración, facilitadores para el establecimiento del vínculo, entre otros
aspectos fundamentales para permitir el establecimiento y la gestión exitosa de las
colaboraciones con el sector empresarial.
El presente estudio constituye el primero a nivel nacional en determinar las barreras
o trabas que limitan la colaboración con el sector empresarial, percibidas por
investigadores académicos. En ese sentido, los resultados obtenidos a partir de la
presente investigación podrían aportar información valiosa para la formulación
mecanismos institucionales, e incluso, nacionales que permitan promover los
vínculos universidad- industria.
Currently, universities play a crucial role in the economic growth of societies; they constitute the main source for the generation of knowledge, innovation and the generation of new technologies. In order to fulfill this role, the university must establish collaborative networks with the industry, which is responsible for marketing the findings of academic research. Although the benefits of collaboration between the academy and the industry are enormous, there are obstacles or tensions that can cause members of both institutions to be unaware these benefits. In that sense, the present research aimed to identify the barriers or obstacles that hinder the university-industry collaborative network, taking as a case study the Peruvian university with the highest scientific production at national level. For this purpose, a semi-structured interview was conducted with 21 academic researchers from this university. The interviews were then transcribed and analyzed using the ATLAS. ti vs 7.1.3 software. The barriers perceived by the researchers included factors related to differences in the orientation and culture of institutions, bureaucracy, poor communication between the actors, lack of a more active role of the university´s office for technology transfer, distrust on the part of the researcher, ignorance of potential partners, among others. In addition, this research identified strategies for the resolution of the barriers, success factors, and facilitators for establishment of the network, among other fundamental aspects that allow the establishment and successful management of collaborations with the business sector. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study at the national level that identifies the barriers or obstacles that hiders the establishment of a collaborative network between the university and the business sector, perceived by the academic researchers. In that sense, the results obtained from this research could provide valuable information for the formulation of institutional and even national mechanisms that allow the promotion of U-I links.
