The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the conditions by which the origins and developments of the Movimiento Homosexual de Lima (MHOL) in the 1980s are explained. This is the first Peruvian organization that advocates for the civil rights of LGBTIQ+ people and continues to operate. It demonstrates, through various sources, both written and oral, that this organization could have a place in the proposed temporal space due to the international influences and ideas that the MHOL members were acquiring. Through this approach, the foundation of this movement, which occurred in 1982, as well as its characteristics and initial objectives, will be analyzed. In addition, I propose that the organization's developments were three: the alliance with the Teatro del Sol, with which a greater call for homosexual people was sought; the HIV/AIDS epidemic, which focused the objectives of the MHOL towards a health plan; and lesbian feminism, with which the organization reaffirmed itself as mixed.
