Currently the political, economic, social and environmental conditions require more competent professionals, therefore universities have the challenge of responding to these requirements by increasing the added value to future professionals. The quality management system contributes to comprehensive education and the well-being of society, which is why it is essential to identify if there are differences between universities that have a Quality Management System (QMS) and those that do not. For the research, a sample of 47 surveys was taken from a population of 93 universities licensed by SUNEDU. The results of the present research indicated that there are significant differences in the nine TQM factors between the universities that have a QMS and those that do not, showing that the directors of private universities perform better quality management compared to their peers from public universities. This behavior is similar in Lima and Provinces with similar percentages of universities with QMS, in the same way this better performance in quality occurs in large universities with more than 201 workers and more than 20 years old.
