In Peru, femenine representation in visual arts has been mostly developed through a male gaze, which has legitimized prejudices, stereotypes and imaginaries about women and, at the same time, justified their social and historical discrimination. During the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, the development of the gender perspective and the feminist movement led to the emergence of new voices that sought to question the hegemonic discourses on the female subject through art. Thus, in many cases, it is the women artists themselves who, upon recovering their place of enunciation, feel the need to speak about their life experience through artistic practice. At the same time, in this period, due to the context of instability in the country, there was a transformation in Lima's artistic scene in stylistic trends and in the institutionalization and growth of the art world. Thus, personalities and aesthetic proposals began to emerge that sought to question the lack of governability and the development of an integral national project, making of art a way to make social criticism. In this context, the use of fantastic elements in the plastic arts, whose primary characteristic is its intertextual relationship with reality, emerges as a form of reflection on the environment. In this sense, this thesis will establish a relationship between both axes and will identify the manifestation of the development of a feminist fantastic art in the artistic scene of Lima, which is represented in the plastic proposal of the Peruvian artist Luz Letts Payet. This artist from her identity as a female artist has been able to create an imaginary pictorial universe where she makes use of fantastic elements with a feminist look to conform discourses that question the roles imposed on women in society; and, thus, contribute to the transgression of the patriarchal system. Thus, her work leads to a reflection on social reality and, in turn, opens a new line of research on this aesthetic category in Peru.
