Sustancias tóxicas en emisiones gaseosas de incineradores hospitalarios
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2009) Bárcena, René; Gamboa, Nadia
Toxic substances in gaseous emissions from hospital incineratorsThe Nationallnstitute for Neoplastic Diseases incinerator was studied: emissions were sampled and analyzed for particulate matter (PM), stack gases and vapors and the micrometeorology was also registered. Gases were collected with an isokinetic sampler, total suspended solids by passive sampling. Results show high levels of PM10, which contains Pb, Al, Zn and Ca; high levels of benzene and naphthalene in the gas fireplace. Local dispersion of PM was observed,

Room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs): Properties, applieations and future prospeetsResearch and development of room-temperatureionic I iquids (RTILs) is becoming more important, as a need to count with materials and chemical substances suitable for several processes in chemical industries, as well as for the growing use of alternative sources of energy, much more friendly with our environment. In this paper is presented a review on ionic liquids, their physical and transport properties, current and future applications

      Aplicaciones en la biometalurgia
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2009) Ho Lock, Delia
Biometallurgical applicationsThe present work had two parts: First, it was the bioleaching of three sulfide minerals using Acidithiobacillus microorganism as a bioleaching agent. The main goal is to show the leaching capacity of the bacteria and its commercial application. In the second part, a refractory gold sulfide ore was used to study the release of gold from its matrix

Gestión integral de residuos químicos generados en actividades industriales
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2009) Loayza-Pérez, Jorge; Silva-Meza, Marina
Integral management of chemical wastes generated in industrial activitiesThe integral management of chemical wastes allows to d iminish the amount of generated wastes, to reutilize wastes so as to diminish their danger, and to make safe use of the final disposition of those wastes that cannot be reduced. Here we present the principies of chemical wastes management, the analysis of the service I ife of a waste and diverse treatment options (physical, chemical, thermal and biological) for its final disposition
