La revista Conexión es una iniciativa académica del Departamento de Comunicaciones de la PUCP, que tiene como objetivo fomentar la investigación y la redacción de ensayos vinculados al tema de las comunicaciones. Se publica una vez al año y colaboran en ella profesores de planta del Departamento, así como investigadores y docentes invitados de otras universidades del país y del extranjero. Los artículos publicados en la revista son originales y se someten a una revisión editorial antes de ser publicados.

Los campos de interés de las comunicaciones son amplios y variados, y esa diversidad de miradas es la que garantiza la interdisciplinariedad de nuestras búsquedas, vincula la heterogeneidad de nuestros objetos de estudio y conecta de manera transversal nuestros hallazgos. En la actividad de la vida académica, Conexión ofrece un lugar de encuentro para la comunicación social con los otros dominios del saber.

Abraham Valdelomar: Apuntes para la fundación del periodismo narrativo en el Perú

Through a vast journalistic work and despite a short existence, Abraham Valdelomar establishes the foundation of modern narrative journalism in Peru, anticipating, in more than one case and for several decades, many of the dictates and rules imposed by the called “New Journalism” in the United States thanks to great literary figures like Truman Capote and Tom Wolfe. Valdelomar made of chronic and reportage works of art, under a style that accompanied the gradual modernization of Lima with an esthetician conscious and close to dandyism vision. Valdelomar contributes decisively to eliminate borders between journalistic writing and fiction writing, especially through the, chronic genre in which he reached an unparalleled mastery.

La acción artística como producción narrativa: subjetividades, performance y experiencia en el Penal Modelo Ancón II

This article seeks to reflect on the experience of a performing arts workshop conducted with a group of young men and women in the Ancón II Model Penitentiary in the city of Lima between 2014 and 2018. The study attempts to review how the narratives arise from the subjectivity and, at the same time, configure it, as well as ponder on how the processes and contexts where these narratives are generated constitute important units of analysis to understand the frameworks that produce them. It is proposed that the performance of these young men and women, understood as a corporal action, in its showing doing is capable of generating reflective spaces of encounter and communication with constitutive and transformative power, but also can problematize these discourses, the actions and the links that they constitute.

Acciones feministas en red: análisis del hashtag #Marcha8M en México

This paper analyzes the generated network around hashtag #Marcha8M in Mexico by means of the social network analysis method (SNA) and three indicators of this method. NodeXL software was used to obtain the information generated between March 4 and 9, 2020, and thus visualize the network. With this study, it is possible to analyse a way in which social movements appropriate social media and link with areas from communication’s field.

Actores y discursos religiosos en la protesta social

This article analyses the roles played by the actors related to religious groups,the way that they rebuild their participation and representation in the publicspace from their involvement in the initiative of social protest about the reclaimand defense of certain civil rights. In this regard, the article addresses the relationship between religion and politics, and furthermore specifically, the way inwhich religious human capital contributes to the process of collective actionsand social mobilization. At the same time, it offers some ideas regarding theway in which religious speech and public practice is shaped by cultural mediatization.

Alianza del Pacífico: una comunicación de gobierno con mucho ruido y pocas nueces

Desde su surgimiento el 28 de abril del 2011, la Alianza del Pacífico (AdP) ha constituido un símbolo de innovación, colaboración e iniciativa económica concertada para sus países socios (Chile, Colombia, México y Perú). Su continuidad es una de sus principales fortalezas, más allá de cambios presidenciales en los cuatro países miembros. Hoy la AdP puede mostrar logros en varios campos, entre ellos, la enorme expectativa generada en el mundo que se evidencia en los 55 países en condición de observadores de esta iniciativa. En este texto, la AdP es abordada desde la comunicación política (comunicación de gobierno y diplomacia pública), así como desde la perspectiva constructivista de las relaciones internacionales. Al analizar los logros reales de la AdP y lo que se dice de ella, tanto en los países socios como en el mundo, se constatan brechas sobre las que no se habla. Con énfasis en el papel del Perú en la AdP, se propone una apropiación de esta y sus potencialidades en función de un efectivo proyecto nacional.

Alias Alejandro y Sibila, retrato familiar del conflicto armado interno en el Perú

Among the political documentary cinema in Latin America, Peru documentary has been focused in its internal conflict since the last fifteen years. This subject has been on the core of different analysis and publications. However, the subjective turn has not been taking importance along these works. In this article the author discusses about the importance on the subjectivity through the analysis of the films Alias Alejandro (Cárdenas, 2005) and Sibila (Arredondo, 2012), in which ones with an autobiographical approach results in a complex final product, taking distance of the apparent “truth” representations mainly boarded by classical documentaries films.

Análisis de la utilización de redes sociales por parte de instituciones culturales durante la pandemia: casos Museo de Arte de Lima y Gran Teatro Nacional

Digital tools are not new, but the pandemic has made visible the need for cultural institutions to establish new alternatives and digital has not only become a tool, but has become vital for the empowerment of museums and culture in general. According to Conseil International des Musées (ICOM), communication is often not a priority for cultural organi-zations, and even less so when it comes to digital, specifically social networks (2019, p. 5). An analysis was made of the digital responses of two Peruvian institutions, the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI) and the Gran Teatro Nacional (GTN), to determine how their presence in social networks and on the web evolved. For this purpose, we also talked to the people in charge of the communication areas of these institutions.

With mounting criticisms on the relevance of communication studies, both to train future professionals as well as for academic enquiry, and with the influx of changes coming from society’s digital transformations, a review of the different interaction between the professional and technical aspects that constitute the field allow for elucidation of the actual specificity of the discipline or set of disciplines that are grouped under the banner of “communication sciences” or “media studies”. This essay strives to propose an understanding of these interactions through an specific metaphor, and then how this understanding can be used to facilitate academic thinking and professional undertakings cross-dialog.

Archivo fotográfico colectivo y paisaje migrante: la experiencia de los dekasegi latinoamericanos en el Japón periurbano

This paper delves into the experiences of the Latin American dekasegi community within the peri-urban landscapes of Japan, specifically in a city in Ibaraki prefecture. The surrounding landscape is documented using participatory visual methods based on photographic practice, such as photowalks and photo elicitation. By exploring the intersection of visual communication, migrant identities, and cross-cultural processes to document the migratory landscape, this study reveals how photography and its participatory use are means to construct and preserve individual and collective memories and generate transparent conversations about the migrant experience. A collective photographic archive from the photowalks in Jōsō offers an insight into transculturality in the Japanese peri-urban landscape, enriching the academic understanding of migration and visual culture. This study emphasizes the importance of participatory visual methods in migration research and the role of photography in the recognition and appreciation of migrant identities and narratives.

Bufo versus Lacrónica. Derivas actuales de la producción de conocimiento en América Latina

The amount of postgraduate dissertations in Communication that occur annually in Latin America would indicate that the area has a permanent power of results to disseminate. However, the impressions we have about the production of dissertations and master and doctoral theses do not confirm it. If at some point it was considered relevant to develop reasoning that would provoke existing knowledge, and invite them to think new realities and discuss old postulates about legitimized theories, today new writings are adapted to meet the guidelines of research projects oriented by sequential objectives in which proposals in particular do not excel, and therefore do not off er striking results. Should this worry us if the social sciences claim to have visibility and social value? The present text analyzes why in these models of academic production there are few novelties and only off ers some alternatives to rethink the relevance, a key aspect and of interest for researchers that promote the generation of knowledge for the social fabric around ALAIC.

El camino del cisne negro: violencias en la construcción del sujeto en Black Swan

The aim of this paper is to analyze the film Black Swan (2011), directed by Darren Aronofsky, in order to understand the identity construction of a subject crossed by multiple violence: Nina, the ballet dancer. For this purpose, the analysis will focus on the relationship of the following concepts: the processes of recognition, the dynamics of power and violence, and the experience of motherhood. It is concluded that Nina’s character suffers a double violence. The first one is linked to a patriarchal scheme of structural violence towards women and the feminine and the second one is related to an intimate and symbolic violence: the fusion and lack of recognition of her as a human being separated from her mother.

Cantovivência y sus manifestaciones artísticas

The article aims at the beginning of a consolidation of the cantovivência concept and the development of its uses. It is a word created during monographic writing and which has been cited as a possibility of representation and configuration of what is the interpretation of a black life, in this case having as analysis the interpretation of songs, which at times can be called protest songs. The objective is to demonstrate a constant and secular struggle that racialized people fight against white, heteronormative, racist and sexist supremacy. This struggle is represented by their black, afrodis-poric, resistant and artistic bodies. The living and singing of black and brown lives are political.

The health and economic crisis caused by the SARS CoV-2 coronavirus and the COVID-19 disease has accelerated the emergence of an informational economy focused on the use of electronic networks. The impact of this scenario on education led to the transition from the traditional classroom to the electronic whiteboard. The objective of the present work is to analyze the relationships between human, social, and intellectual capital. A model showing the prevalence of human capital creation as indicated by data processing in the virtual class-room and self-management of knowledge was established.

Este artículo indaga acerca de la forma en que las redes sociales y la televisión interactúan para crear elfenómeno comunicacional denominado “celebridad instantánea”. Se pretende establecer el papel que juegan estos medios de comunicación en el conocimiento, la difusión, la reputación y consagración de una persona acerca de la que, antes de un determinado hecho, la sociedad poseía un escaso conocimiento. Se indagará también sobre la correlación entre rating televisivo y convertirse en términos de su aspecto movilizador al convertirse en un “viral” o “trendictopic” en YouTube o Twitter, independiente de su valor para la vida de la población peruana.

El cine del surandino peruano sobre el conflicto armado: género cinematográfico e hibridez desde los márgenes del establishment de Lima

This article proposes a critical regard on genre confronting this notion with Peruvian South Andean Cinema on the Armed conflict. We start by questioning genre notion, understood as a necessary condition in communicational practice between producers and audience. We are more interested in understanding how this notion points to a symbolic dispute from and among multiple agents involved in the cinematographic phenomenon. Then, we identify a characteristic that differences this cinema from hegemonic limeño cinema on armed conflict: genre hybridity. We found there a symbolic operation through which this cinema differs from Lima’s cinema and build its own identities.
