Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Optimization of the Net Present Value and Internal Rate of Return of a Wind Farm Project under Wake Effect
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. CENTRUM, 2015) Petković, Dalibor
According to studies on the impossible trinity, under conditions of high financial integration, the domestic interest rate is closely linked to the foreign one if the possibility of maneuvering interest rates is absent in this transaction. The Fisher effect is brought into this escapade because interest rates generally trend positively with inflation. Botswana has set her inflation target between 3-6% and this study attempts to determine inflation spillover effects from the United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Japan, China, Belgium, France, Germany, South Africa, Nigeria, and Ghana using data from 1980-2012. Comparatively, the attempts made by previous studies to examine spillovers generally lacked a long-run focus and channeled much attention to periods of financial crisis. This study deviates from other studies by using the Augmented Dickey Fuller (ADF) test to examine unit roots for the countries under examination. The study further applies the Johansen cointegration procedure, as well as the Granger causality test. The results show that Botswana’s inflation dynamics trend positively with all the countries under scrutiny except South Africa in a long-run framework. However, the Granger causality test only proved that Botswana’s inflation lead China’s inflation dynamics. In conclusion, Botswana’s inflation is not driven by other countries’ inflation dynamics.

Big Data Analytics Based on Logistical Models
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. CENTRUM, 2015) Nywlt, Johannes; Grigutsch, Michael
Over the past years, a change of feedback data in terms of quantity, quality, and timeliness could be observed in production. The generation of high resolution production feedback data enables producing companies to apply big data analytics in order to create competitive advantages. This paper describes how logistical models can be used to conduct big data analytics. It will be explained how such logistic-oriented big data analyses can be applied to improve the logistical performance of producing companies. The results will be illustrated with the help of a best practice project.

A Model-Based Method for Assessing Potentials in Distribution Logistics
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. CENTRUM, 2015) Becker, Julian; Fronia, Philip; Nyhuis, Peter
Distribution logistics is an essential factor of a company’s success by virtue of its great impact not only on logistical performance, but also on logistics costs. For this reason, it deserves special attention. This paper presents a model-based analysis of the distribution logistics potential, with the aim of detecting the logistical and monetary potential within a company. Moreover, further research activities are identified in order to expand and improve the developed method.

Efficient Evaluation of Production Measures Based on Logistical Models
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. CENTRUM, 2015) Grigutsch, Michael; Nywlt, Johannes
In the course of globalization, producing companies are confronted with new challenges to optimize their logistics performance based on logistical measures. In order to be able to create a quantifiable basis for the selection of optimal measures, a management tool was developed at the Institute for Production Systems and Logistics. The developed tool is based on logistical and transfer models for logistically and monetarily evaluating logistical measures. Based on implemented logistical measures, this paper focuses on the evaluation of improved logistics performance and its impact on sales.

Perceived Procedural Organizational Justice Matters for the Success of Quality Policies
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. CENTRUM, 2015) Pérez-Arechaederra, Diana; García Ortiz, Luis; Mora, Sara
The purpose of the study was to investigate the role of perceptions of organizational justice in the relationship between changes to improve service quality and the level of job satisfaction of health care workers. The method was to use the fairness heuristic theory framework to compare workers from a primary health care center applying European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) practices with workers from centers not applying any quality policy (n = 95). Results show that the EFQM workers reported higher ratings of procedural justice than workers without EFQM, although their satisfaction levels were not significantly different. Furthermore, the application of the EFQM model showed a moderating influence on the relationship between procedural justice and satisfaction. Thus, in a changing environment, procedural justice had a strong effect on workers’ satisfaction. The value of the study is to deepen the understanding of how quality practices and organizational changes influence workers’ perceptions and attitudes towards their work environment.

Organizational Identity: What is the Conversation Currently Dealing with? Paradigms, Perspectives, and Discussions
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. CENTRUM, 2015) Gonzales-Miranda, Diego; Gentilin, Mariano; Ocampo-Salazar, Carmen
This paper presents the results of a data research on the issue of organizational identity, the aim of which was to explore the current state of the discussion on organizational identity based on the analysis of papers published in 10 of the world’s leading organizational and management journals between 2000 and 2011, in order to identify paradigms, subjects, and trends. An Exploration of the Relationship between High Performance Work Systems and Job Satisfaction
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. CENTRUM, 2015) Afcha, Sergio
This paper contains an exploration of the relationship between high performance work systems (HPWSs) and employee wellbeing for workers from European countries. Specifically, the focus is on an examination of the level of involvement from firms using HPWSs in the different aspects of work organization. The results provided empirical evidence about the influence of factors like autonomy, flexibility, teamwork and skills, and workers’ on-the-job satisfaction. The results indicated that higher levels of involvement in some HPWS practices increased the level of job satisfaction. In addition, estimates by age reveal interesting differences in the self-perception of job satisfaction.

Informal Networks and Start-Up Entrepreneurs in Spain: Networking Other Entrepreneurs and Angel Investors
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. CENTRUM, 2014) Aliaga-Isla, Rocío
This paper contributes by containing an examination of the impact of informal networks, such as personally knowing other entrepreneurs and having access to business angel investors, have upon start-up entrepreneurs in Spain. In addition, a pseudo-panel approach is used with micro data from the Spanish Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) adult population survey over the period 2006-2009. This technique overcomes limitations found when using cross-sectional data. Moreover, this includes a short review of literature using cross-sectional data in order to identify how researchers used these data. Results show that informal networks are important for start-up entrepreneurs. Knowing other entrepreneurs personally and having access to angel investors have a positive relationship with start-up entrepreneurs. Also, the findings indicate that startup entrepreneurs in cohorts aged 49-58 and 59-64 do better than younger ones. Furthermore, this article highlights some implications.
