De río hablador a río trabajador. Procesos de transformación del paisaje hídrico urbano del río Rímac en la Atarjea (1944-2015)
(Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Fondo Editorial, 2024) Santiváñez, Miguel Ángel
The industrialization and urbanization processes of the 20th century drastically modified the natural, urban and social dynamics of urban rivers in the territories, due to their intervention for human benefit. In Peru, the Rimac River hydrographic basin—which crosses from east to west the city of Lima, the country’s capital—is formed by the river from which it takes its name, a source of water and electrical resources that have been systematically used, productive, through an increasingly larger and more sophisticated infrastructure. This has had an impact on the current state of the river, leading to questions about the relationship between the river and the city. Based on these inquiries, and through the analysis of the urban water landscape, the historical comparison proposed in this study addresses the transformation of the hydraulic infrastructures of the Atarjea water treatment plant, in relation to the Rimac River and the city of Lima.
