This research aimed to analyze the relationship between emotional regulation (ER) and selfrated health (SRH) in college students. For this purpose, 289 students belonging to the careers of Law (36.3%), Management (34.3%) and Psychology (29.4%) of a private university in Lima were evaluated. Their ages ranged from 18 to 30 years, 67.5% were women and 32.5% men. To measure the variables, a single item of self-rated health and the Cognitive Emotional Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) were used. The results showed that most students rated their health as good, but with a slightly negative trend. SRH was related to sex and faculty, as well as the perception of academic performance, the satisfaction associated with it and the perception of motivation for studies. Regarding the ER, differences were found by sex and faculty, as well as correlations with the perception of academic performance and motivation perception for the studies. Finally, significant and direct small correlations were found between self-rated health and the strategies of Positive reappraisal and Positive refocusing, and negative correlations with Rumination, Catastrophizing and Self-blaming. The implications of the findings are discussed.
