Abstract
The main objective of this research is to describe the relationship between the dimensions of the Personal Style of the Therapist and the State-Trait Anxiety in psychologists who work with oncological patients in Lima. As a specific objective, it was proposed to explore the differences of both study variables with the sociodemographic variables. The sample consisted of 32 psychologists working in the care of cancer patients, with a minimum of experience in the area of two years. For this purpose, the Trait-State Anxiety Inventory (IDARE, Spilberger, 1975) and the abbreviated version of the Personal Style Questionnaire of the Therapist (EPT-C, FernándezÁlvarez et al., 2008) were applied. The results show an indirect relationship between the attentional dimension and the state anxiety. Likewise, a negative association was obtained between the trait anxiety and the attentional dimension, and between the trait anxiety and the involvement dimension. With respect to sociodemographic variables, a direct relationship was found between the psychologist's age and the state of anxiety level; as well as differences in the expressive and implicative function with respect to the workplace. Regarding the type of intervention carried out by psychologists, the differences in the operational and participative function are sought. Finally, differences were found in the operative and expressive function according to the theoreticaltechnical orientation.
