This research is an important input for the field of study of social representations of the environment, specifically in indigenous cultures with as little studied knowledge as the native community Yanesha de Tsachopen, one of the most representative ethnic groups in the Pasco region, Peru. The method, which involved familiarization trips with the community, carried out a thematic analysis based on 10 in-depth interviews-a semi-structured guide-that were aimed at exploring their experiences and knowing the social representations they have about the environment. In the research developed it was found that the meaning of the environment is linked to the Yanesha identity and its community history. Likewise, the meaning given to the environment, according to the theory of social representations, serves to order the solutions proposed to the environmental difficulties that their environment currently poses. Finally, it was analyzed how the population is facing new scenarios for which it is generating innovative solutions to maintain its identity and preserve its environment.
