The Mining Unit (UM) is a company created in Canada with operations throughout the American continent. The company is focused on the discovery, production and marketing of base and precious metals where the copper (concentrate) represents the primary metal exported. One of the UM's areas of operation is mine management who is in charge of key operational processes for the business in Peru. The main objective of the business consulting was to identify the problem the mine management (mine operating unit) is facing, its causes and the existing solution alternatives. Consequently, the main problem identified is the inefficient use of the equipment fleet in loading and hauling areas caused by lack of planning and significant delays in the collection, processing and submission of the data required for the operational plan. With the intention of solving this key problem through the utilization of fundamental tools as root cause analysis, internal and external analysis of the mining unit, together with the literature reviewed, five alternative solutions were identified which are oriented to processes redesign, processes optimization, monitoring, review and submission of information, personnel training and development and technology innovation.
