The present study has the purpose to explore the relationship between the five factors of personality and intuitive eating in a sample of 100 young adults between 25 and 35 years old that currently have a job. In order to develop the study, the Intuitive Eating Scale -2 (IES-2) and NEO-FFI questionnaire were applied. Participants took the surveys individually. The results show inverse correlations between the four areas of the IES-2 and the total score of the test with neuroticism. The area “Body-Food choice congruence” had direct correlations with the other four areas of the NEO-FFI. On the other hand, there was a significant direct correlation between extraversion and the areas “Eating for physical reasons rather than emotional reasons” and the total score of IES -2, there was also a significant and direct correlation between consciousness with the areas “Unconditional permission to eat” and the total score of the IES -2. Regarding the specific objectives, it was found that men scored higher than women in the area “Eating for physical reason rather than emotional reason”. Regarding the relationship between suitable BMI or not and intuitive eating it was found that there were only significant differences in the area “Reliance on hunger and satiety cues” and the IES-2 total score, where suitable BMI scored higher. As a conclusion, it can be stated that there is an existent relationship between personality factors and intuitive eating.
