Estilos de afrontamiento al estrés e inteligencia emocional en la mujer ejecutiva en Lima Metropolitana

Resumen
La presente investigación tiene como objetivo dar conocer los estilos de
afrontamiento al estrés que utilizan las mujeres ejecutivas, su nivel de inteligencia emocional
y la relación que existe entre ambas variables.
Se trata de un estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo, transaccional, correlacional y no
experimental; que utiliza como instrumentos dos encuestas: (a) COPE 60, que identifica el
estilo de afrontamiento y (b) Bar-On ICE, instrumento que mide el nivel de capacidad
emocional y social, es decir ,inteligencia emocional. La muestra evaluada fue de 150 mujeres
ejecutivas de Lima, cuyas características fueron tener un puesto jefatura con toma de
decisión, con nivel de estudio universitario como mínimo y gestión de recursos humanos y
financieros.
Los resultados concluyen que el 67% de las mujeres ejecutivas de Lima tiene un estilo
de afrontamiento enfocado al problema, es decir, afrontan directamente el problema que
genera el malestar. El 33% restante posee un estilo de afrontamiento enfocado a la emoción,
evidenciando que adoptan un afrontamiento incorrecto y pasivo frente al problema, con la
posibilidad de provocar efectos negativos en el aspecto emocional y productivo. Asimismo,
se identifica que el 93% de mujeres ejecutivas de Lima tiene una inteligencia emocional alta.
El resultado de intersecar los resultados de estilos de afrontamiento e inteligencia emocional,
muestran que tanto el estilo de afrontamiento enfocado al problema y enfocado a la emoción
presentan un alto nivel de inteligencia emocional, 97% frente a un 84% respectivamente. Sin
embargo, los coeficientes de correlación entre las variables estilos de afrontamiento e
inteligencia emocional indican que existe correlación positiva baja
This research aims to make known the coping styles that executive women have, their emotional intelligence and the relationship between these two variables. This is a quantitative, descriptive, transactional, correlational and non-experimental research; which uses as instruments two surveys: (a) COPE 60, which identifies the coping style; and (b) Bar-On ICE, an instrument used to measure the level of emotional and social intelligence. The study was applied in a sample of 150 executive women in Lima, whose characteristics were to have a position of leadership with decision making, to have a minimum level of university study; and to manage human and financial resources. The results of the research conclude that 67% of executive women in Lima have a coping style focused on the solution of the problem, that is, they directly face the problem that generates the discomfort. The other 33% have a coping style focused on emotion, evidencing that they adopt an incorrect and passive coping with the problem, with the possibility of provoking negative effects in the emotional and productive aspects. Likewise, the research identified that 93% of the executive women in Lima have a high level of emotional intelligence. Intersecting the results of coping styles and emotional intelligence show that both the problem-focused and emotion-focused coping style present a high level of emotional intelligence, 97% compared to 84% respectively.
