Abstract
The study analyzes the effect that exposure to oral narratives in standard Castilian has on the increase in vocabulary, comprehension, and production of sentences in children from 6 to 7 years of the Shipibo Cantagallo Community Bilingual Intercultural Educational Institution. The type of research is explanatory, applying a pre-experimental design, and sampling is probabilistic. Sixteen children who attend the first grade of primary school and who are speakers of the Amazonian Spanish linguistic variety were examined, using the Image Vocabulary Test-PEABODY to measure the level of comprehensive vocabulary, and the Exploratory Test of Spanish Grammar-A. Toronto to evaluate the comprehension and production of sentences. As a result, it is shown that oral narratives in standard Spanish have a positive effect on the increase of comprehensive vocabulary and on the comprehension and production of sentences in the sample studied.
